Precepts the residents four (4) half (1/2) day sessions per week in the resident clinic;
Monitors and provides care to patients;
Prescribes or administers medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury;
Analyzes records, reports and test results to diagnose patients medical condition;
Interacts with patient to gather additional history and information about medical condition;
Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patient;
Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat patient medical conditions;
Evaluates patient and records applicable notes about patients condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or making a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team;
Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at the practicing locations to ensure quality patient treatment;
Performs surgical procedures and operations as appropriate and within Physicians scope of practice and qualifications;
Completes appropriate documentation of patient care services in accordance with applicable law and regulations and the Systems policies and procedures governing patient medical records;
Completes appropriate documentation to support professional billing for these clinical services in accordance with applicable law and regulations and Systems policies and procedures;
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards including but not limited to maintaining the confidentiality of patients protected health information, in the performance of Physicians clinical duties;
Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff;
Ensures the residents learn to provide the highest quality of care with compassion and with the engagement of other health care professionals, family members, and the community;
Serves as a role model of professionalism and life-long learning;
Demonstrates commitment to the delivery of safe, quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care;
Does formal and informal evaluations of the residents;
Oversees ambulatory didactic curriculum and proctors didactic sessions for the residents;
Participates in scholarly activities with the residents;
Serves as a mentor and advisor to the residents;
Assists with the development and periodic review of rotation-specific and program-specific goals and objectives;
Assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum;
Assists in the collection and reporting to residents, staff, and other Faculty on individual and practice productivity, financial performance, and clinical quality;
Assists with the interview and selection of residents to the program;
Engages in Faculty Development designed to enhance clinical skills;
Participates as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee;
Participates in Hospital Committees and attends Graduate Medical Education meetings as deemed by the DIO and GME Director;
Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required of Internal Medicine
Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
In addition to the base salary, there is productivity and quality incentive potential.
